HomebreWare Review (Updated 3/31/09)
Do you want to play copied, backup, and import games on your Nintendo Wii console without installing a mod chip? Would you like to play retro games, DVD's, and homebrew on Wii? All that used to be impossible, but now, thanks to brand new software technology (HomebreWare), you can copy / backup Wii games and play them without a mod chip!
We just received a copy of the HomebreWare bundle, and jumped right in to provide an in-depth review of the product, and find out if it is right for you, the Nintendo Wii games. Does HomebreWare really allow you to copy Wii games and play them without a mod chip? Let's find out!
Downloading the HomebreWare bundle was quick and painless. Included with the download was a very complete User's Guide as well as the HomebreWare installation files. The User's Guide showed step-by-step, via a brief quick-setup video, how to install the software and have everything up and running in less than 5 minutes, as well as provided answers to frequently asked questions. I can confirm that the initial setup took us just about the 5 minuted they suggested! I feel comfortable saying that even the tech un-savvy will have no problems.
The steps to install HomebreWare were simple and straightforward:
1. Download the HomebreWare software package
2. Transfer the specified files to an SD Memory Card (The Wii memory card format)
3. Startup / Boot your Nintendo Wii
4. Insert your favorite backup or import game, or DVD movie, and have fun!
Steps 1 through 3 needed to be completed only once. After you have completed those steps the first time you can go straight to the best part: playing backup and import games on Nintendo Wii with no modchip!
In conclusion, we were extremely impressed with HomebreWare. The product made rather large promises and delivered across the board. What was impossible just weeks ago, is now a quick and easy task using this new tool.
